Tapestry Weaving:
A Comprehensive Study Guide
Nancy Ashbrook Harvey |
Excellent How-To on Handweaving
This tutorial covers different types of looms (with photographs), selection of warp and weft yarns,
design options for tapestries. Most of the book centers on the minutiae of how to weave tapestries, and create
shapes of color within a tapestry. It is ideal for beginners--many detailed, close-up drawings show how the weft
yarns have to be placed around the warp yarns in order to create shapes and patterns. For anyone who wants to
try out weaving without investing in an expensive loom, the book provides instruction for a simple frame loom, as
well as projects to weave on it. Many hints throughout the book help readers improve their technique and
understanding of the weaving process. Exceptional.
